Supplement Review: Myprotein’s Mypre

Taste: Drink this cold. It’s bearable that way. Again, a drinkable product from Myprotein but nothing more. It has that burning after taste, the kind that Optimum Nutrition’s pre-workout is famous for, combined with a fake sugary flavor. 4/10

Mix-ability: Give this one a good shake. That being said, it’s fine. There’s no notable debris or clumps in this pre workout. The creatine mixes well in one or two quick shakes. So, compared to that, I’d give this a few more, hard shakes. 8/10

Effectiveness: Just like the taste, it was nothing special. I really like some of Myprotein’s products, but I’m sad to say this one didn’t make the cut. I’m not a fan of proprietary blends, and this has a few. I got a case of the tingles and a slight boost in energy, but nothing since… And that’s with two scoops. However, here is the “saving grace:” this pre-workout has a 13.4 gram 2:1:1 ratio of the three main BCAA’s. These are essential to help preserve muscle mass and provide extra energy to the muscle. I drink this with the creatine, and I feel great. So, for that reason, it’s pretty great. There are better tasting BCAA supplements out there, though. 7/10

Overall: Besides the proprietary blends, the ingredients are solid (even without the proper amounts) and the amino acids are an awesome addition. Paired with the creatine, their PRE supplement is actually pretty effective. If you can go without the “crazy pump” or “tunnel vision,” this may be a decent buy.  6/10
